“Relegation Will Take Our Shine Away” – Dwamena

Ghana Premier League club, West Africa Football Academy lost their top flight status after suffering relegation last season.

The boys from Sogakope collected 35 points from 34 games, finishing second from bottom of the league table.

Prior to their relegation, the head coach Guillermo Zaragoza stepped down from his post leaving the position vacant.

Midfielder, Michael Kyei Dwamena tells Radio Gold Talk Sport that the step down to Division One Will someway take shine away from the club.

“It has taken the limelight a little bit out of the way for us.

“But you know we are playing for a club which is for development so it doesn’t take out a lot from us since it’s not just a team.

“It’s a development club so we are still in a development process regardless of we losing the elite league [position].

“But it will have a toll on us but as well but we take it in good faith.” Michael Kyei Dwamena told Radio Gold Talk Sport.

West Africa Football Academy will now contend with the second tier league and fight their way up back to the BetPawa Premier League.

The Division One is expected to start a later than the 2022/23 Premier League in September.
