Accra Hearts of Oak to face AS Douanes or ASR Bamako in Second Round of CAF Confederation Cup

Ghana FA Cup winners Accra Hearts of Oak have drawn a bye in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup and will enter the competition at the second round stage.

The Phobians will face the winners of the preliminary round tie between AS Douanes of Burkina Faso and ASR Bamako of Mali at the second round stage.

According to the draw for next season’s competition held at the Confederation of African Football, CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, Hearts of Oak will be away first in their second round qualifier.

AS Douanes and ASR Bamako, will contest a two-legged affair for the right to face Hearts of Oak in the second round of the Confederation Cup competition.

The first leg encounter between these two sides will be played on the weekend of September 9-11 with the return fixture coming off a week later.

Hearts of Oak will travel to face the winners in the first leg second round tie on the weekend of October 7-9 with the second leg coming off in Accra between October 14-16, 2022.

In the maiden edition of this competition, Hearts of Oak defeated their arch rivals Asante Kotoko to win the diadem in the grand finale in 2005.
