The family of a couple who perished in mysterious circumstances at Maakro near Abuakwa in Kumasi has been informed by the inspector general of police that the best possible investigations are being conducted.
George Akuffo Dampare told the family that the Police will “get to the bottom of the problem” when he called the mother of the late Ernestina Jackson to express his condolences. JoyNews was informed by a family.
The reassurance comes as Abuakwa Police investigate the circumstances that may have prompted Samuel Jackson to allegedly store his wife’s body in their apartment for several months.
The body of Mrs. Ernestina Jackson, also known as Ernestina Abenaa Gyaamah Boakye, was discovered by the Abuakwa Police wrapped in a blanket with ice packs on it.
The late Mrs. Jackson’s death may have occurred months before her husband, according to police speculation.
Police also found Samuel Jackson’s body in the family’s bathroom, on the toilet, while also rescuing their two teenage children, who were found unresponsive.
The IGP’s guarantee came as some Divisional and District commanders accompanied DCOP Afful Boakye Yiadom, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, to see the couple’s two traumatized children on Wednesday who is still being treated at the Abuakwa Polyclinic.
According to officials in the Police, getting in touch with the relatives of the deceased had been challenging up until Wednesday.
However, after the story on JoyNews aired, Mrs. Jackson’s relatives contacted the deceased’s children on Wednesday.
A heartbroken Madam Lydia Boakye Benson, the mother of Ernestina Jackson, arrived at the Multimedia office in Kumasi with the deceased’s siblings to learn more about the tragedy and how the kids are doing.
They had hoped that the news of a couple’s passing wouldn’t include Mrs. Ernestina Jackson, who cut up contact with her.
