At the press conference the NDC made 5 demands which includes the immediate repeal of the E-levy, Covid-19 levy, the scrapping of the fuel taxes, borla taxes, energy sector levy taxes etc., immediate suspension of the 9 pesewas of the bost margin, price stabilization and recovery levy of 16 pesewas and 14 pesewas and finally the sacking of Bawumia, the head of the economic management team and Ken Ofori Atta, the finance minister.
In his reaction to the press conference yesterday, Dr. Tiah Kabiru Mahama, the Technical Advisor to Bawumia noted that what Sammy Gyamfi had said was nothing new. According to him all the NDC know is to make noise and inflame passions. He boldly told Randy Abbey that Sammy Gyamfi had returned from the US to make the Ghana hot. He mentioned that Mr. Gyamfi was just throwing issues into the air to win the sympathy of Ghanaians.
According to him the NDC are only making noise but will not abolish all the thing they are asking for if they were in power. Interestingly, Dr. Mahama and Sammy Gyamfi have been paired on a number of times on Thursdays Good Morning Ghana with the latter always coming out on top at the end of the day.
The NDC have consistently indicated that they will repeal the electronic levy if they come to power. Many feel this is just an election talk considering the fact that politicians make so much noise and produce very little. Government believes it will be difficult to grant these demands of the NDC because it will increase the debt on them.
