Onua TV has attracted reactions from the length and breadth of the country after posting about the VALCO Trust Fund CEO who is alleged to have embezzled 40million cedis.
Readers can recall how Onua TV’s Captain Smart has been on the neck of the government in recent times. According to Onua TV, The Acting Chief Executive of the VALCO Trust Fund, Mr. Kelvin Kwaku Yeboah has been arrested and granted bail by the National Intelligence Bureau. It is reported that the said CEO was involved in some malfeasance he has engineered in his outfit.
Per Onua TV’s report, the Account of the 2021 Auditor General’s report indicated that Mr. Yeboah has established a he is using to dupe the state.
According to facts available to Onua TV/FM’s ‘Maakye’ team, the Acting CEO unilaterally increased his salary from GH₵26,000 to GH₵50,000.00 after sacking the woman who failed to endorse his plans to become a sole signatory to the Fund’s accounts.
Also, he is said to have documented that an amount of GH₵400,000.00 was given to the Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh to spend his weekend.
Other monies expensed by Mr. Yeboah in his capacity as acting CEO include ₵190,000.00 for a photo shoot, GH₵17,000.00 for a website for schools under trees, a GH₵250,000.00 publicity for Schools under trees as well as a GH₵175,000.000 for a breakfast meeting with 20 people.
Speaking on Onua Maakye Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Captain Smart asked whether President Nana Addo was going to clear this man too.
He further noted such attitudes are the reason Ghana is seeking a bailout from the IMF. The broadcast journalist added that there would come a time when Ghanaians will arise and demand leadership to account for their stewardship.
Many Ghanaians have reacted to the reportage as some section of the public indicated that the system would prolong the tenure for investigating the crime and may eventually set him free if care is not taken. They have encouraged the security and appropriate institutions to expedite investigations and take necessary action. Other Ghanaians praised Captain Smart for bringing such offenses to the attention of the public and encouraged him to continue with his work.
