The Listening Govt Has Surprised Ghanaians Again

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by his excellency Nana Akufo-Addo has surprised Ghanaians yet again.

It will be recalled that before yesterday, many Ghanaians called on the government to extend the deadline 4 SIM card re-registration. They gave the reason that most Ghanaians have not obtained their Ghana cards to enable the registration.

The initial silence of the sector Minister, Madam Ursula Owusu, over the calls to extend the deadline made people think that the government would not do anything about the pleas of Ghanaians to extend the date.

Surprisingly yesterday, the government did it again, to the excellent amazement of the doubters.

The Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, yesterday, during her announcement of the extension of the deadline for sim re-registration to 30th of September, 2022, stated that the Ghana government has a listened to the calls to extend the deadline. She explained that the decision ,was due to factors such as some of the citizenry not having access to the Ghana cards to enable them to re-registration.

Ursula Owusu said, “Due to several factors, the fact that over 7.5 million citizens and residents were yet to obtain Ghana Cards to enable them to register their SIM cards, it was clear the deadline for completion of the registration of the remaining active SIM cards could not be met.

“As a result, the ministry extended the deadline to July 31, 2022. However, reports from multiple media outlets, GhanaWeb, indicated that as of Saturday, July 30, thousands have either not registered their Ghana Card or SIM cards.

“This led to several calls on the government and the ministry to cause an extension to the July 31 deadline.”

Well done to the government and the sector minister for listening to the calls and doing the needful.
