Asante Kotoko set to sign another Cameroonian striker

Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko are lining up a deal to sign another Cameroonian striker according to reports in the local media.

The Porcupines according to the reports, will soon announce the signing of Thierry Akono on a two-year deal if he passes a medical.

Should the deal be confirmed, he will be the third Cameroonian at the Garden City club with compatriots Frank Etouga Mbella and Georges Mfegue having joined last season.

Akono, last played for Moroccan side SC Chabab Mohammedia last season.

The 26-year old is a free agent after ending his stay at the Moroccan side. He has also played for Azam FC in Tanzania as well as the Cameroonian national team.

The player has arrived in Kumasi and, he is in talks to sign for the Porcupines with the deal expected to be made public soon.

Akono, could be on the Asante Kotoko list that will travel to Turkey for their preseason campaign next month.

The Porcupines will hope his inclusion in the squad will help them retain the Ghana Premier League, GPL title they won last season, the other domestic competition, (FA Cup) and their campaign in Africa.
