It has been quite some time now since a statement from the opposition National Democratic Congress or other Ghanaians got the New Patriotic Party reacting vigorously like the one said by Lawyer Kpebu today.
Many social media users has questioned why they are having a busy day after Lawyer Kpebu said the President is part of the criminal syndicates.
It would be recalled that Lawyer Kpebu this morning in an interview on JoyNews noted that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s failure to act on the various allegations makes him part of the criminal syndicates.
The statement wasn’t taking lightly by the ruling NPP as in few minutes after myjoyonlone published a news with the headline of the President being a criminal syndicates, the Minister of information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah responded to the statement.
According to Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah the comments are shameful and unprofessional from a legal practitioner. He also expressed his displeasure in the station that aired the news. He was of the view that such platform should not be allowed to be used as medium to insult the national leaders.
Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said “t is shameful and totally unprofessional to hear lawyer Kpebu without any factual basis, accuse the President of the Republic of being a member of a criminal syndicate. Even more worrying is the fact that a media house which is to be respected,”
Just a few minutes later a popular foot soldier of President Akufo-Addo and the Managing Director of the Accra Digital Centre (Ghana Digital Centres Limited), Mr Kofi Owusu Nkansah has also wade into the comments.
According Mr Kofi Owusu Nkansah, the Lawyer is behaving like he is the Chairman of the NDC in the Constituency of Kpandai. He further suggested that the cheap popularity the lawyer is seeking is just to enhance his dreams of contesting the seat at Kpandai.
He said “Apparently Martin Kpebu is lacing his boots to contest the Kpandai constituency seat on the ticket of the NDC in 2024. No wonder he is behaving like an NDC Chairman in an NDC Stronghold.”
Most reactions noted that the lawyer has nailed it on point and that is why the NPP is worried.
