Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu the majority leader in Parliament who also couples as the minister in charge of parliamentary affairs and government business has made a surprising revelation, leaving Ghanaians in a state of commenting.Â
He revealed that he will quit parliament come 2024 and will not vie for the position as a member of Parliament for the Suame constituency.Â
This was after he had an episode with some of his constituents at the Suame-Magazine spare parts lane.Â
Ghanaians have injected their comments citing that that’s a reasonable call to step down rather than striving to contest again which might generate huge disappointment for him and can hinder the number power for that constituency as against the opposition NDC.Â
Below are randomly collated comments from Ghanaians:
• You don’t need a pastor to tell you to quit. You can never go back to them to vote for you. Save the rest of your monies and enjoy them after your retirement. Selfish leaders are now realizing their mistakes.Â
• Even am starting my campaign of contesting you. This time we are sacking all the greedy parliamentarians so the youth fill in the vacant seats.
• The majority leader wants the followingÂ
1. He wants to become Speaker.
2. Eye on Vice Presidency
3. Disappointed in his government
4. Genuine fear of losing
5. Avoid more violent attacks
6. Fear of losing the party Primaries.
• It’s long overdue! You have been a waste of time and our meager resources. For over 20yrs in parliament, you haven’t done anything that we can remember you for. Huh, At least we are happy you have amassed enough ill-gotten wealth for your retirement.Â
• Go in peace and enjoy! But remember that some of you all those who have stolen our resources for personal gains will be brought from pension to face the full rigors of the law.
