More Trouble for Akufo-Addo’s Govt as the Next Fight of TUC and Organized Labour is More than COLA

The government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo is set to face a new pressure from the TUC and Organized Labour over disparities in salaries structure and pensions between Article 71 office holders and public servants.

The new agenda of TUC and Organized Labour is believed to put more pressure on the government as the unions seek to equalise the disparity in payment administration between article 71 office holders and Public Sector workers.

According to the Secretary-General of the TUC, Dr Yaw Baah, the SNNIT of public-sector workers is nothing to write home about and it is high time that Organized Labourer and its outfit come together to fight this unfair treatment.

He stated emphatically that they will ensure that the disparity does not continue anymore. Dr Yaw Baah noted whiles interacting with the media that “we will not allow the class system in pay administration in favour of Article 71 office holders to continue, it must end now,” he said l.

He also noted that there is currently a review going on with the current system of payment thus – the Single Spine Salary structure. He assured that TUC and organized labour are careful watching and waiting for the outcome of the review for the next step.

Dr Yaw Baah stressed that the inequality must come to an end and the TUC and organized labour will pursue that.

He said, “The TUC and its affiliates have our eyes and minds firmly fixed on the outcome of the Single Spine Salary Review process currently underway. We are determined to work together with other organized Labour groups to end the unfairness in remunerations for public sector workers on the Single Spine Salary Structure on one hand and Article 71 office holders and State Owned Enterprises on the other hand.”
