Information reaches after the peaceful national delegates conference of the New Patriotic Party alleged that the Ashanti Regional chairman ofthe party, Mr Bernard Antwi Bosiako, (aka chairman Wontumi) made efforts to woo the Ashanti delegates to for the out gone National Secretary of the party John Boadu but the said attempts failed to yield fruits.
According to a section of the delegates from Kumasi who were tasked to cast vote, who spoke to the reporter (names withheld on security reasons) before the congress, chairman Wontumi allegedly went round and convinced them to vote John Boadu to help break the eight.
Chairman Wontumi sources said also allegedly promised contract awards when Boadu maintain his seat.
He was further implicated to have assigned his reasons to the that since experience is the best teacher, if he (Wontumi) sits down for a candidate to boot out Boadu breaking the eight would perhaps become difficult for the Npp in 2024.
In an answer to some questions the Ashanti delegates denied that Wontumi hardly resorted to attack nor condemning John Boadu’s contestants.
All what he wanted from us was our votes for the defeated national secretary.
And in fact he truly undertook a perfect campaign for John Boadu but he lost.
This is because majority of us yearn for a change without prejudice, the correspondent gathered.Â
We voted for Lawyer Kodua to continue the work on a clean note as we did to chairman Wontumi to remain at post, they insisted.Â
Npp is a one big political family who believes in unity, peace and stability, therefore we see the results of the congress as a gain and total victory for the entire party, the Ashanti congress participants told the correspondent.
