Set off the campaign on a high note against league rivals Liverpool -beating them by 4-0 in a pre-season friendly, new boss Erik ten Haag seems to have settled quickly at Manchester United and again recorded another 4 goals victory today.
Their second pre-season game out of four this summer as a preparation for the 2022-23 season, Manchester United came off in high flames from a goal deficit into a heavy win against Australian outfit Melbourne Victory.
A lovely possession from Melbourne’s half turned into a sensational sole goal in the 4th minute was such an unexpected moment for Manchester United but they eventually came around with lovely three goals and an own goal.
Scott McTominay got the equalizer in the 42nd minute after a clearance gone wrong in the Melbourne half. The 25-year-old Scottish then had the momentum to unleash a distance shot which confused Paul Izzo through deflection.
Three minutes after (45′), Anthony Elanga set up Anthony Martial on the right side of the opposing half in a lovely touch -taking the lead before halftime (1-2).
Right into the second half, a quick change of 10 players was initiated goal scorer Marcus Rashford who hopped on the third at the 78th minutes courtesy of Eric Bailey’s assists and an own goal finalizing the score line (1-4).
With this, four goals seem to come in handy for Erik ten Haag and Premier League teams might get their fair share of it next season.
Rival clubs Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are next on the ‘Red Devils’ pre-season calendar.
What are your thoughts on Erik ten Haag’s first two games in charge?.
