After several twists and turns, the government has decided to approach IMF for help. Officials of the fund are already in Ghana and have started talks with the government. The talks will continue for about a week. No one knows the kind of conditions that we will have to fulfil before our bailout program is approved.
One interesting story that has popped up amidst all these IMF brouhahas is the appointment of Mr Daniel Domelevo, a former auditor general to be part of the audit team of the fund. I’m pretty sure it is this same team that will scrutinize Ghana’s bailout program.
I am beginning to wonder if Domelevo’s appointment will have any effect on our application considering how he was hounded out of office. The circumstances surrounding his enforced retirement by the current NPP government still baffles me.
I am sure My Domelevo is a professional and will not do anything unnecessary. He will deliver his duties as assigned to him without any malice towards anyone.
