The Ghanaian Politician will not accept facts and figures if same doesn’t support his Political interests. Kudos to the team for an insightful discussion, you have to continue to challenge these politicians we called leaders in this country. On Newsfile, the technocrats face politicians with hard-core empirical facts while they only make statements to either defend or explain policies.
Bright Simons, Dr. Theo Acheampong, and MP John Abdulai Jinapor today on Newsfile debunked the Government’s propaganda, which was parroted by Effutu MP and Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, that about 100 countries or half of the world have applied to the IMF for bail-outs.
The propaganda does not help us, Acheampong and Simons asserted, with all three citing data from the IMF’s website revealing that only 41 states have applied for a program like that of Ghana.
Dr. Theo Acheampong concluded that “we must accept the reality of our economic situation and do away with the propaganda and the spins.” The propaganda about 100 countries going to the IMF does not help us and data on the Fund’s website indicated 42 while others are on an extended program.
