As government negotiators are locked up with the personnel from the International Monetary Fund, discussions are still ongoing regarding about the state of the economy. Many have claimed that government has been wasteful and this has caused the downfall of the economy. Government communicators however insist that external factors have been the cause of the fall and not internal affairs.
Kofi Ameyaw, Ghana’s representative to the UN and lawyer Kwame Jantuah of the CPP clashed on TV3’s The Issues today. Kwame Jantuah was of the view that the main reason for the wobbling economy cannot be attributed to the effects of Covid-19 or the Ukraine Russian war. He opined that the government has mismanaged the affairs of the country.
Kwame Jantuah raised questions about why a V8 is used to convey President Akufo-Addo’s chair. He also questioned if the president cannot not visit places in Ghana without his most priced chair. Interestingly, lawyer Jantuah also raised issues with why the president hasn’t addressed the country about entering into an agreement with the IMF. Kwame stated that the president should have by now addressed Ghanaians and not disrespect Ghanaians.
These comments didn’t please Kofi Ameyaw who felt that Kwame Jantuah was hating Akufo-Addo for no reason. In a rather subtle way, he questioned why Kwame Jantuah was acting that way. Kwame however insisted that he doesn’t hate the president but rather wants the right thing done.
