Stop Pretending, You And I Know What Bawumia Said About IMF- Kwesi Pratt Tells Sefa Kayi

The managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt, has reiterated his stance on the government’s decision to seek multilateral funding by engaging the IMF for a bailout, particularly for help in the balance of payments deficit and policy credibility. Kwesi Pratt held the view that going to the International Monetary Fund will not solve Ghana’s economic crisis.

During an interaction with the host of Peace FM’s Kokrooko show, Kwesi Pratt tried to reminisce some of the words of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on IMF when he was running mate to Nana Addo. Kwesi Pratt dwelled on the words of Bawumia that the NDC should not blame their incompetence on global matters.

Kwesi Pratt asked Sefa Kayi, “Kwame Sefa Kayi, do you remember what Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said to the NDC when they were blaming our economic woes on external factors?”

In response, Sefa Kayi asked Kwesi Pratt to answer that question. Kwesi Pratt told Kwame Sefa Kayi in the face not to pretend as if he does not know what Bawumia said.

“Bawumia said the NDC people surprises him. Bawumia said that because he claimed he does not understand how the global factors could climb over Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso and affect only Ghana. That is not a realistic way of assessing the economy.”, Kwesi Pratt reminisced.
