Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Black Stars legend, Abdul Razak has shared his views on why he has been sidelined from football in recent times. Abdul Karim Razak, popularly called ‘Golden Boy’ bemoaned the apparent disregard by the current generation of football administrators. The former Africa cup winner couldn’t believe why after achieving so much with club and national teams, stakeholders in football are not seeing the importance of engaging him in one way or the other.
Speaking on Angel FM, he said: “I played football to the highest level. Won African best and won trophies with Ghana and Kotoko. I finished and took up coaching and won four league titles in Mali, I won in Sudan, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and coached in UAE. I won the league with Kotoko as a player and as a coach, and won top 4 and SWAG Cup. I have done everything as a coach so I don’t know what I have done wrong to these current generation of leaders.
“The likes of Attuquayefio and Ben Koffie who knew my worth gave me opportunities but now, some of us have been completely forgotten. I want to ask if I have offended anyone in power. What have I done? Why don’t I deserve to serve my nation again with all that I have? Why have I been forgotten at home like that? Do they want me to die before?”
Many people who didn’t even see him play recognize him as a legend. Should we only acknowledge legends when they die and clad their coffins with the national colours? I’m sure the answer will be a big no! Let us take the available opportunity and make use of all the skills and resources that we have. It will help Ghana football
