Opinion: Lies and deception does not govern a country.

It has become a norm for politicians to look into our faces and blatantly lie to us. Sometimes, I wonder what motives they have before assuming the reigns of power. Ghana is not seeing any significant development because politicians don’t say the truth. They always find ways to outwit the intelligence of the electorate. When they are seeking power, they will do anything they can just to convince you to vote for them.

That has been the case with NPP and NDC in the past 24 years. They will promise us heaven on earth but immediately they assume power they forget about us. We still have schools under trees in very remote villages in Ghana. It is as if the authorities are not aware such schools exist. But when it is time for elections, they go to these same communities and seek their votes.

I partly blame the electorates for the behaviour of these politicians. They will soon forget their problems immediately after the politicians give some little cash during election periods. As former president Mahama rightly said, we have short memories. This is indeed true looking at what has transpired in this country over the years.

The current NPP government promised us a lot of goodies. We were told that we are sitting on money and yet we are hungry. We booted the NDC out of power and gave them the mandate. What have they done? Look at the current economic outlook of the country. What has changed? Nothing. The most annoying part of it all is that they are refusing to accept the fact that we are heading the wrong way. After all their castigations about going to IMF, is that not what they are now resorting to help us out of our economic doldrums?

We should ditch these 2 parties for just a term and see the difference. Ghanaians are fed up.
