The Member of Parliament for Bolgaranga Central says the Finance Minister must account for the actual money received by government for the Covid-19 fund and it’s expenses.
Following Ken Ofori-Atta’s explanation of COVID-19 funds expenditure to parliament yesterday, MP Isaac Adongo who thinks the explanations given by the Finance Minister yesterday in Parliament is not a true reflection of how the COVID-19 funds were expended has called for more probity.
According to him, “People who contested elections openly claimed that they were given allocations of COVID money to spend, yet most of these monies did not even come as free money. People cannot hide behind COVID to plunder the public purse. They must account for it and the more open that process is, the better it is in claiming back the credibility of Parliament and the government architecture we set for ” He made this statement in an interview on Eyewitness News yesterday.
The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta was in Parliament yesterday to answer some 16 questions and also explain how the COVID-19 funds was used.
The MP for Bolgaranga says the Finance Minister thinks he can just come and present anything to Parliament and get away with it.
“I just don’t know how this man [Ken Ofori-Atta] thought that he will just come and bamboozle [us] and get away with it”.
The Health and Finance Committee has been asked to investigate more on the expenses the Finance Minister presented to parliament.
