GRA Chases birthday recipient for tax.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is reminding the public of the tax obligations on items received as gifts.

This is behind the viral video of Dulcie Boateng, a social media influencer and CEO of Dulce Emporium. DulcieBoateng decides to give her best friend 50,000 GHS in cash as her birthday present. Through their Twitter account,

GRA said that those who received this kind of gift would be responsible for the details and would have to pay the government a portion of the amount as tax, giving them the opportunity to educate the general public.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. So this is to all Ghanaians who are within the borders of the country.

I know this might sound new to many Ghanaians, but the right thing must be done. We are in a season of tax payment and we all know what taxes are used for, so let’s all try to be law abiding.
