Asante Kotoko end the 2021/22 GPL campaign with a draw against Accra Lions to climax title triumph

Asante Kotoko ended the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, GPL campaign with a drawn game against Accra Lions on Saturday afternoon.

The Porcupines had to come from behind to earn a point in this final game of the campaign played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The GPL champions were hoping to end the campaign with a win to match with their title celebration, but, Accra Lions had other ideas as they nearly spoiled the party for the record Ghana champions.

After a goalless first half mostly played in midfield, the home side took the lead early in the second session through Abass Samari and, the champions had to battle hard to find the equalizer late in the game.

Striker Samuel Boateng got the goal that earned Kotoko a point from this game with four minutes to play as the spoils were shared.

Kotoko end the campaign as winners of the competition with 67 points as they celebrate their 26th GPL title.

They will look to build on this performance going forward as they are build to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season.

The Porcupines have made it a target to get into the group phase of this competition but, they know it requires a lot to get there.

For Accra Lions, this season represents a successful one for them as they secured their status for another season in their debut campaign.

Lions can look into the future with high hopes of building on this and, they could be a handful for many next season if they get their mojo going.
