The Ashante Regional Chairman of the New Partriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi’s win for the third consecutive time has some questions to answer for the New Partriotic Party.
Whiles the opportunity to chair the NPP in the Ashanti Region, the strongest hold of the party gives Chairman Wontumi the chance to further proof to his doubters who he is and what he can offer. The great questions that are of interest are the good and the bad sides of his re-election.
His win may just be like a cutlass with two sharp edges. It has pros and cons. Below are some.
Some Doesn’t See Him as Team Player or Unifier
Prior to his re-election, the major message propagated by those who were against his re-election was that they needed a unifier and a team player. This presupposes that many did not see him as a unifier and a team player.
It would recalled that a leading member of the New Patriotic Party charged delegates in the Ashanti Region to change Bernard Antwi Bosiako as the regional chairman. According to him Ashanti region NPP needs a team player: someone who will lead the party in the region and bring every party member together for people to admire the party and join hands with us to break the 8-year political cycle in 2024.
However, the responsibility lies on him to proof them wrong by bringing everyone on board and unify the party in the region.
On the positive side, the re-election of Chairman Wontumi will help the party in the following ways:

Wontumi has his Media over the last years to propagate the agenda of the NPP solidly. Giving him the chance to lead the region means he will continue to use his platforms for both TV and radio to Seve the interest of the party. The stations has highly been embraced in the region which is positive for the party.
His Financial Strength
Chairman Wontumi is known to go at any length financially to secure victory. This ability the party can hope that he will continue to support even when the need arises financially to help the party move forward.
A Good Communicator
He is a man of few words yet he sounds convincing anytime he speaks. That is a good sign of a great leaders. The party can rely on him to use his skills to convince voters in the next elections.
Wontumi served as constituency chairman for Bosomtwe before becoming Regional Chairman in 2014, won his re-election bid in 2018 and has been retained to lead again from 2022 to 2026.
