The member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has quizzed Akufo-Addo that how can he be building a cathedral for a kind and compassionate God and be so cruel to a fellow Ghanaian?
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 15th June 2022 he wrote;
“As I revealed yesterday, despite illegally withdrawing over GHS200million, contractors haven’t been paid and private owners of demolished properties haven’t been compensated either.”
Okudzeto revealed that Waterstone Realty Ltd had a thriving luxury real estate business contributing significantly in taxes and employing over 100 young Ghanaians. Now all these employees are home unemployed.Â
According to Okudzeto, it is almost two years and they cannot have access to compensatory land allocated to them by the Lands Commission. He explained that because the occupants say they work for National Security; other top government officials claim they deserve to own that piece of land having initiated steps, so Waterstone can go hang.
“To the unemployed who were working for Waterstone and other properties demolished, they are wondering if they will still be alive to worship in Akufo-Addo’s cathedral when it is ever completed.
How can you be building the Lord’s temple and at the same time exhibit such insensitivity, cruelty, corruption and murderous greed?” He quizzed.
The MP finally said perhaps, since construction of the cathedral is suspended due to non-payment of contractors; government officials may now want to find the time to reconstruct their hearts and their conscience.
