Asamoah is one of the greatest strikers Ghana has ever produced. He is the African striker with most goals at the world cup tournament. After his football career in Europe and Asia, he joined Legon Cities, a football club in Ghana. After the 2020/2021 season, he terminated his contracts with the club.

According Sammy Anim the local manager of Asamoah Gyan, he believes that Asamoah has a lot to offer and wishes to be a world class coach in some time to come.
