Vice President at IMANI Center for Policy and Education, Selorm Branttie, has asked Ghanaians to expect huge depreciation of the cedis and inflation to rise higher.He asserted that there will be serious economic hardship in Ghana following a report he has read.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, 9th June 2022, he wrote;

“A report I read yesterday about our economy is telling me things will be very dire. Our bonds have become a huge albatross on our necks. We should expect a huge depreciation of the cedi soon and inflation to rise higher.”

He said that in short, if Ghanaians think things are hard now, they should brace themselves because the current hardship is even just the prelude. “E b now the James Bond movie start. And you know those movies are very long right?” He said.

He advised that we have to think of ways to reduce the dependence of our economic activity from just buy and sell. We have to produce. Everybody is opening a shop and we have too few people creating value.

“We need this to survive folks, it’s gonna get real ugly out there.” Selorm ended.

Many Ghanaians are complianing of high cost of living as fuel prices and it lorry fares has soar up. Prices of goods keeps increasing. Selorm Branttie comments comes as a background to this.
