Accra, the Capital city of Ghana, has for the past years been hits with some sad news, like the May 9, 2001 Accra Sports Stadium disaster, which recorded 126 deaths; the 2015 Accra petrol station explosion which killed 250 people, 2017 Accra Atomic Junction gas explosion with 7 deaths …and others.
The latest sad news hitting the Ghanaian Capital City again reveals that, Cars have submerged, after few hours of a heavy downpour.
In the early hours of Friday, June 10 2022, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), reported that, their weather monitoring station, has observed two rainstorms heading towards the country.
According to the GMet, the downpour, which will be accompanied by strong winds and thundery conditions, would be affecting areas like the Greater Accra, Western and Volta Regions.
True to their predictions, parts of the country have been hit by few hours heavy downpour, causing flooding in many areas the capital city-Accra.
Some Pictures and videos shared on social media after the downpour, showed how some vehicles were struggling to drive through the flood waters around some areas like Ofankor Barrier, Kaneshi and others areas.
The social media reports again reveled that, “Commuters in Achimota, Taifa and Kaneshie also had a hard time manoeuvring through the water.
