“Do you know how much tax we paid to put up that Billboard? Just as the Bible accepts for the promotion of love, we erected that LGBT Billboard to promote love, equality and tolerance. We’re law abiding people that went through the necessary procedures. “
These were the words of Alex Kobina Donkor Director for LGBT Rights Ghana. That was his quick answer to Sam George and his group who questioned that his group didn’t pay any tax nor secured a permit to erect their LGBT Billboard.
For the past 24hrs, the LGBT community in Ghana has been lashed out for erecting a Billboard to portray their ideology, existence and identity.
To the ordinary Ghanaian who is circled with cultural values, that was a no. To the LGBT community, their efforts in erecting the Billboard was cemented in biblical love.
My Take
Can the anti LGBT MPs Group use the same energy they used in pulling down the LGBT Billboard to fight corruption, high cost of living, unemployment and bureaucracy? Using top energy to pull down ordinary Billboard made of rubber and wood shouldn’t be tagged as heroic but rather cheap popularity. They should use same energy to make life better for all Ghanaians.
