The Attacks On Paul Are Misplaced – NPP’s PK Sarpong Defends Paul Adom-Otchere

Popular writer for the ruling NPP, PK Sarpong has argued that, the attacks on Metro Tv’s Paul Adom-Otchere are misplaced. He said that Paul only criticized Togbe Afede based on the job he did as member of the Council of State.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday 9th June 2022, PK Sarpong wrote that the Good evening Ghana Presenter, Paul Adom-Otchere has come under a lot of flak for critiquing the letter Togbe Afede XIV wrote rejecting the ex-gratia he was paid

He said that Paul is being accused of ‘insulting’ the Paramount Chief of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV. They say he cannot or couldn’t have taken the Chief in his own town to such ‘cleaners’.”

PK Sarpong added the critics fail to realize that Paul did not speak about Togbe Afede as the Paramount Chief of Asogli. He spoke about him based upon the job he did as a member of the Council of State.

He argued that, it was the letter he wrote about the ex-gratia that Mr. Adom-Otchere focused on. It had absolutely nothing to do with the traditional authority he wields.

“Togbe Afede XIV, the Paramount Chief of Asogli State must be seen as a different entity from Togbe Afede XIV, the owner of several reputed companies and corporations in Ghana. In the letter, the business magnate described the payment to him as unconscionable and not right as the job he did as a member of the Council of State was on a part-time basis.” PK Sarpong argued.

He further stated that Paul Adom-Otchere sought to let Togbe Afede know that he couldn’t reject the money because it is part of his conditions of service.

“How this is being misinterpreted and same being used to bash Paul is not only shocking but highly problematic. The attacks on Paul are misplaced. PK Sarpong ended his argument.
