Prof Gyampo Praises Fixthecountry For Showing Maturity

A lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has praised Fixthecountry movement for showing maturity by apologizing on the planned armed demonstration.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, 3rd June 2022, Prof Gyampo wrote;

“Well, this is maturity. The idea shouldn’t have crossed the mind in the first place and I am happy that discerning people across the divide took issues with the intention. For us to grow our democracy out of its fledgling status, there should be elite consensus on some key issues.”

Prof Gyampo added that we need not disagree on such issues. We all agree that staging a demonstration is one potent way of expressing dissent and drawing attention to what is wrong for redress. But we also agree that there cannot be armed demonstration. No sane government will allow this.

Prof Gyampo shared a link from myjoyonline confirming the apologies rendered by Fixthecountry Conveynors.

The comments of Prof Gyampo comes as a background to apologies rendered to Ghanaians by Fixthecountry for planning to embark on an armed demonstration on June 4th 2022.

In a press release dated, June 2, the conveners admitted that their approach to addressing policing brutality and other problematic crowd control tactics is flawed.
