The senior national team the Black Stars displayed an impressive performance yesterday in their encounter against Madagascar. They walloped the visitors by 3 goals to nil. It was a very dominant outing by the guys right from the blast of the whistle to the end. They placed the visitor’s defence under siege throughout the opening 45 minutes but couldn’t find that finishing touch to open the scoring.
The Black Stars resumed the second half with the same attacking verve looking for every available opening to score. Their efforts were finally rewarded I’m the 53rd minute when Mohammed Kudus latched unto an Afena-Gyan pass to open the scoring. They doubled the lead 3 minutes later with a deft flick by Afena-Gyan to open his international goal account. Substitute Osman Bukari placed the game beyond reach for the visitors in the 86th minute when he went around the goalkeeper to score the 3rd goal for Ghana.
This is just the perfect start to the qualifying campaign. They have done well and I will applaud all involved. This is the kind of performance we want to see from them. Even though tougher opponents lay ahead, this is just a reminder that we can hold our own against any team if we play our cards well. The team is still a bit rough and needs some fine-tuning. I believe Otto Addo will do what is needed before the tournament in Qatar starts.
