According to the Highlife crooner, he had high expectations of walking home with the Highlife artiste of the year award as well as Collaboration of the year award but unfortunately, his hopes were shattered.
Speaking in an interview with Sammy Forson on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Kuami Eugene revealed that he was really eyeing the collaboration of the year because he had done a lot of features in the year under review and almost all his features were hit songs yet none of the songs won an award during the night show.
However, it was pointless for him to lament about this earlier because it was an award show and he had limited power over the outcome of the show.
“It wasn’t even my songs. These were songs that I was featured on. Look at the songs that I was featured on, from Yeeko to Biibi Besi to Abodie, and none of those songs had an award. But then again it’s VGMA and we have limited power when it comes to VGMA,” he said.
In other news, Highlife singer, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, widely known as KK Fosu has heaped praises on the controversial Ghanaian dancehall musician, Shatta Wale for his resilience and contribution to the Ghana music industry.
It would be recalled that KK Fosu made a statement in a previous interview that he has a picture of Shatta Wale in his bathroom. He explained that he believed in Shatta Wale’s talents and strength with regard to music and for him to take over the music scene after his return, he sees him as a god.
Speaking in a recent interview with Abeiku Santana on UTV’s “Atuu” show, KK Fosu revealed that he started his music career with Shatta Wale and they used to rock on the same stage together but Shatta realized that he has not amassed dominance in the country, hence he stepped back for over ten years and came back stronger.
He added that Shatta Wale’s return was mind-blowing since he came to top the scene with hit songs back-to-back and for that reason, he believes there is much to be learnt from him.
