Deborah Samuel, a student at Sokoto’s Shehu Shagari College of Education who was burned to death for alleged blasphemy on Thursday, has arrived at Tunga Magajiya in Niger State’s Rijau Local Government Area.
According to The Nation, Deborah’s mother has been comatose since learning of her death, while her father has been distraught.
The family is currently meeting to discuss the burial arrangements.
According to reports, the Sokoto State government requested that the body be returned because it had become government property while on its route to Niger State.
Her family, however, insisted on burying her today.
The family’s pastor, Emmanuel Maaji, the family’s pastor and the head of the 1st ECWA in Tunga Magajiya, stated that the bereaved family is unhappy with the government’s handling of the situation with kid gloves.
He said Deborah’s body was transported on a hired bus and that the driver returned to Sokoto shortly after dropping the body off.
He claimed Deborah had lived with family members in Sokoto since she was in primary school.
