In Good Morning Ghana, Eric Twum talks about democracy and government policy implementation. Here’s what he had to say;
Even talking about e-levy, we have outlined a certain process a bill goes through to be passed as a law. The same constitution allows you to decide on a 4-year tenure.
The people who sat down to draft the constitution and realized that allowing 30 million people will be chaotic.
So, there’s a defect in a democratic system.
All I am saying is, that once you disagree with a public decision or policy, the constitution gives room for that.
So unless someone can convince me that there’s another way of governing ourselves that is a true representation of the people, I’m still where I am.
So when people say the masses or public opinion are against the ruling of a government, I see it to be funny.
We don’t run this country on polls, we run it based on systems with the democratic dispensation we have agreed to.
Eric Twum’s words hit differently as it sounds disagreeing even in my ears. What do you make of his words?
