Ghana To Soon Boast Of Another Int’l Airport; 93% Done. Date For Commissioning Announced- See Photos

On behalf of the Minister for Transport, my boss Hon. Kweku Ofori Asiamah, hon Tampuri yesterday inspected the Tamale Airport Project site to ascertain the progress of work ongoing.

According to the minister, the work done currently stands at about 93% overall and it is the expectation of the Hon. Minister that the contractor will complete and hand over to H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a ‘tear rubber’ airport on or before 31st August, 2022.

The project includes a new terminal building befitting the status of the airport as an international airport. It also includes a first class 5km road linking it with the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway, new car park and commercial vehicles parking.

The airport also boasts of an ultra modern Hajj Terminal to be dedicated for Hajj operations, thus making Tamale, the hub of Hajj operations in Ghana.

Work started in March 2020 and soon thereafter COVID19 lockdown was announced and as they say, the rest is history.
