Former president John Dramani Mahama has lamented at the death of the late ace Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abi Akleh who was killed whiles covering an Israeli military raid in West Bank. Shireen while alive, was one of the few ace journalist who despite her never hesitated to go even in the most dangerous of places to report news.
She received gunshot wounds while reporting the raid of the West Bank in jenin and was rushed to the ibn sina hospital where she passed away. Al Jazeera reports that she was shot and killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) while reporting on IDF raids in Jenin refugee camp. Al Jazeera also claims she was specifically targeted and killed.
Shireen was shot in the head and along with a colleague journalist who received a few bullets at the back but managed to survive, though under critical conditions.
Former President John Dramani Mahama took to his verified Facebook page to register his head felt condolences to the deceased. He also took the opportunity to task President Nana Akuffo to see to the arrest of ace investigative journalist Ahmed Suale who was assassinated on January 16th 2019 by unknown gunmen who are still at large till this day.
