“I Won’t Cause The Sack of Any Asante Kotoko Player”

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has jumped to the defence of striker, Franck Mbella.

The Cameroonian import has received backlash following his double penalty miss against Aduana FC in week 28. The game ended 1-1 as a result but Prosper Narteh says Mbella must be encouraged.

“He has been playing and he has been scoring and once he missed, I encouraged him that it’s part of it and this is not the time he missed a penalty. “I think he did that when we went to Elmina Sharks, he missed, I spoke with him, he got his confidence back, from that time he converted all the penalties that we had. “It’s just unfortunate that today’s penalty that we got he missed them. “But that is it. He scored a good goal, a very fantastic goal. We could have gone up by three goals to nil so that what has happened would have happened. “But first one goalkeeper saved, second spot kick, it hit the upright, he got it right though.

“So it’s part of it, we don’t have to worry our heads so much about it because it’s game over and there is nothing we can do about the score line. “All we have to do is to encourage the young man to get his confidence back so that subsequent games he can give us the best that he has been giving to us.” Prosper Narteh Ogum told StarTimes. Mbella despite the two penalty misses is chasing the 2021/22 goal king title having netted 19 times. Kotoko are top of the league table with 56 points from 28 games.
