Nana Akomea Clashes With Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa And ‘Exposes’ What Really Happened in Court That Day

Nana Akomea on Good Morning Ghana vividly explains why Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa and his colleagues wanted to go against the e-levy. He describes how the process went and hence, the problem.

Here’s what he said;

What the court is doing is a matter of number. What Sam Okudzeto and his colleagues are saying is that the number that passed the e-levy was not up to the constitutional requirements.

Another side is also saying that the numbers shouldn’t be an issue. This is what Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa and his colleagues are doing; they are saying that when they look at other issues, some personalities were not in the country and they are extrapolating the numbers.

Numbers that take decisions are counted with those on the floor and in the parliament and not those outside parliament.

We also have a voice voting in parliament where the speaker asks those in favor and those who are not to respond accordingly.

The speaker usually roles in favor of the majority that sits on his right and the minority on his left.

If a member of parliament disagrees with the decision of the speaker, he/she can then challenge the speaker to do a headcount; that is where the numbers come in.

The difficulty with the e-levy voting is that there was no headcount and only a voice vote.
