The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, born Nana Barima Kwaku Duah was born on 6th May 1950. Meaning is 72 years old today, 6th May 2022. Otumfuo Osei Tutu was enstooled as the 16th Asantehene on 26th April 1999. The Asantehene celebrated his 72nd birthday with a lot of prominent people in Ghana and across the globe.
The Ghanaian musician, songwriter, creative director, and entrepreneur, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, popularly known on stage as Okyeame Kwame and nicknamed Rap Doctor, was captured at this vital celebration. Reports indicate that he was invited by the Asantehene to be part of the prominent guests on his birthday.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was walking with his entourage when he came across the musician, Okyeame Kwame. The musician greeted him and said, “Nana, you look so beautiful”. Okyeame Kwame later came on his official Instagram page and wished the Asantehene a happy birthday.
This is what Okyeame Kwame wrote on his official Instagram page:
“Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nyame Kese wo nkwa so. Thank You for allowing me to celebrate this very birthday with you. May your beautiful spirit inspire all young people to be honest, bold, and proud. “Yɛ som wo awu”.
This birthday message suggested to some Ghanaians that Okyeame Kwame sees the Asantehene as a Supreme God. The Twi word “Nyame Kese” means “Big God” that Okyeame Kwame utilized to describe Otumfuo Osei Tutu II seems like blasphemy to some Ghanaians. Okyeame Kwame also said that he will worship the Asantehene till death.
