Jael, a 27-year old woman, says that her former boyfriend raped her after she denied him access to her body while at his house. She became traumatized for three years after the incident, not knowing who to tell about what she had gone through. It was hard to tell someone because the man who hurt her was someone she trusted so much and meant everything to her.
Jael recalls the night she was raped. She met her boyfriend for the first time and he asked her out. She accepted. He took her out on a date. She said he was very rich; they ate, drank every wine and she had everything she wanted to the fullest.
After a night of talking, laughing, drinking, and eating at a local bar, the man asked her to follow him home. She obliged because she trusted him and never thought he was going to ask for sex. Jael trusted the man and agreed. She thought it would be easier than finding a hotel.Â
At his house, they ate, drank, and chatted before he asked her for sex and she abruptly said no. He bounced on her and forced himself on her. She tried to fight him off as he overpowered her, pinned her down on his bed and raped her.Â
The next day, he drove her home. She cried her eyes out. She was hurt and traumatized by the man she loved and trusted. She blamed herself for what happened. Even after the horrible experience, she kept meeting him outside, acting like his girlfriend.
She never visited him again, but they would talk on the phone, hang out, eat, drink, have fun, but not follow him to his house. She said they saw each other twice or three times a week, and she said she was so hurt and could not tell anyone. She went for therapy. It took her three years to heal. She blames men who rape women and assumes every relationship is based on sex and will always end in bed.Â
