CAF Team of the Week in Europe

Goalkeeper

Edouard Mendy (Chelsea)

The Ivorian had a great week, denied his opponent (West Ham) on multiple occasions, and recorded his 13th clean sheet this season, 4th on the EPL clean sheet ranking.

Defenders

Alexander Djiku (Strsasbourg)

Captained the Ligue 1 side, the Ghanaian had the best defensive stats against his opponent (Lille) but quite unfortunate he was on the losing side.

Joel Matip (Liverpool)

Made his 27th appearance this week, the Cameroonian graced ‘the Reds’ victory, his 17th domestic win without conceding this season.

Ismael Traore (Angers)

The 35-year-old Ivorian registered his 4th goal this week from away and was rated high in his team due to exquisite solvency in the backline.

Midfielders

Moses Simon (Nantes)

Experienced goals galore encounter, 5-3 in favor of his side (Nantes), the Nigerian had fun assisting the equalizer (3-3) and getting on the fourth scoresheet on his team. Such an amazing performance.

Youssef Belaili (Stade Brestois)

Few starts (7) this season with Stade Brestois in France Ligue 1, the 30-year-old was the only player to hit the target securing the maximum points against Metz along with the man of the match honor.

Seko Fofana (RC Lens)

Rocked horns with Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-German, Seko captained and led RC Lens to their second draw this season as a box-to-box midfielder aspiring hope for European football – ideally the Europa Conference League next season.

Andre Zambo Anguissa (Napoli)

On a normal day, Anguissa was solid in midfield comparing his stats with the winning team (Empoli). He assisted, sighted several key passes, longs balls, and deep-dived into the defense rendering support. He had a great week although on the losing side (Napoli).

Forwards

Karl Toko Ekambi (Cameroon)

Ekambi was so delighting and watchful this week, dominated the wings exclusively summoning a goal, and an assist at the request of teammate Houssem Aouar. The 29-year-old is an example of Africans having a powerful force – Cameroon to be precise.

Kalifa Coulibaly (Napoli)

Starred as the lone striker, the Malian ensured every shot attempt (2) was accounted for, bagged on a brace cementing the maiden table against a relegation battling side (Bordeaux).

Isaac Success (Nigeria)

In his ninth start in the Serie A, the 26-year-old produced a standout performance involved in Udinese goals scored this week (a goal and an assist) against Bologna along with the man of the match honor.
