Meet The Three Ghanaians Who Petition Parliament To Impeach Akufo Addo Over The Serwaa Broni’s Case.

Three Ghanaians, Issifu Seidu Kudus Gbeadese from Damango , Elikem Kotoko and Stephen Kwabena Attuh, both from Accra, have demanded the constitutional removal of president Akuffo Addo over his (the president) alleged attempt of using national security operatives to stage an armed robbery attack on Ms Evelyn(Serwaa Broni), a Canadian based Ghanaian, to obtain gadgets containing nude pictures of Serwaa Broni and the president on her phone.

The three are believed to be social activists and also sympathizers of the opposition NDC. According to them, if these allegations are proven true, they will be tantamount to human rights abuse, exposure of the national security to foreign threats and as well run the name of the presidency into disgrace.

The are indicated that they are motivated to petition the president by Article 41 (a), (b) and (f) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana to uphold and defend the Constitution. They further stated in their petition that they believe the allegations levelled against the President in her publications and subsequent interview on Loud Silence TV hosted by Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor over the weekend established sufficient grounds for the invocation of Article 69(1) of the Constitution, 1992.

Ms. Evelyn Aidoo (Serwaa Broni) alleged that her past intimate relationship with the president has resulted into an attack led by one Mr. Hopeson Adroye, who was then the Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of the Airport and other national security operatives to retrieve evidence of the said encounter with the President from her phone and other electronic gadgets. According to her, the incidents left her traumatized which if proven to be true, would amount to a breach of the Oath of Office of the President.

They therefore, called on Parliament to begin an inquiry into the allegations and if proven to be true, commence impeachment process against the President.

It will be the first time a president is impeached in the history of Ghana if the parliamentary inquiries into the allegations are true. This was their letter.
