Match-Day 33: EPL Team of the Week

Four scheduled fixtures were canceled this week due to FA Cup fixtures but all the same, we had a splendid week, and as a courtesy here is the team of the week.

Goalkeeper

Fraser Forster (Southampton)

Honored as the man of the match, Fraser Forster’s classic saves and clean sheet on Saturday were ‘the Saints’ breakthrough in the 12th position. The 34-year-old stalled Arsenal’s Champions League hopes with 6-saves and 3-clearances.

Center- Backs

Jan Bednarek (Southampton)

Seconded Fraser in Arsenal win, Bednarek provided a mouthwatering performance as the lone scorer and a clean sheet.

Marc Cucurella (Brighton)

Not at his usual position, Cucurella have been performing at the highest degree in ‘the Seagulls’ center back and on Saturday was evidence of it. He was rated high that faithful day against Tottenham according to sofascore ratings.

Pontus Jansson (Brentford)

Captain Jansson indeed has leadership qualities. His last-minute head goal was the difference-maker on Saturday affirming ‘the Bees’ Premier League stay for the next season.

Defensive Central Midfield

Christian Norgaard and Christian Eriksen (Brentford)

The two Danes in Thomas Frank’s team crystallized the midfield involved in all ‘the Bees’ goals scored against Watford. Eriksen assisted Pontus Jansson and Norgaard with a definitive strike extending the winning streak to three from away.

Attacking Midfield

Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle United)

Keeping ‘the Magpies’ Premier League stay alive, the 24-year-old Brazillian delivered at the comfort of home with two magnificent strikes from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory at the expense of Leicester City.

Wingers

Kieran Dowell (Norwich City)

Had an unusual performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford with a goal and an assist, the 24-year-old delivery was not up to the ‘Red Devils’ standard but did a job any way this week at ‘the Canaries’ wings.

Leandro Trossard (Brighton)

Led Brighton in last week’s victory against Arsenal, the Belgian again strikes past Tottenham in a goal to nil victory as ‘the Seagulls’ settles at the 10th position.

Center Forwards

Teemu Pukki (Norwich City)

Led ‘the Canaries’ to a near success on Saturday, Finland International caused a lot of woes in United defense.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Man. United)

A sensational hat-trick from the Portuguese gave United momentum in the top-four race as hopes rise.
