Klopp: “To be honest, Haaland’s transfer price is just ‘crazy’ and not fun”

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp stated on Wednesday that he has no interest in attempting to recruit Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland due to his high fee.

The 21-year-old Norwegian international is poised to leave the German club at the conclusion of the season, with nearly every top European club interested in signing him and a rumoured $75 million ($82 million) release clause attached to any deal.

Real Madrid, PSG, and Manchester City are all said to be interested in Haaland, who has 16 goals and five assists in 18 league games for Dortmund this season.

Despite missing several weeks due to injury, he scored three goals in three Champions League games and four in two German Cup games.

Jürgen Klopp on Erling Haaland deal for Liverpool: “No chance! We won’t be going there. The numbers involved are just crazy – we’ll be having nothing to do with it”, reports Reuters via Bild.

“To be honest, I don’t want anything to do with it. It’s not fun”.

According to German media, the overall cost of buying Haaland in a multi-year deal might surpass 300 million euros, which would include his salary, agent fees, and competition-related bonuses spread out across multiple seasons.

Haaland has had a tremendous influence at Dortmund in the last two and a half years, scoring 27 league goals in 28 Bundesliga games last season and 13 in 15 games since coming in January 2020.
