Real Madrid is not on the list of net transfer spending of “Big Club” since 2012

Real Madrid as a power house in player transfer have surprisingly been spending less for the past decade.

A recent study from the CIES Football Observatory revealed the net spend of football’s biggest clubs over the last decade with Real Madrid not on the list.

Manchester United leads the standings with a negative net expenditure of more than €1 billion, having spent €1.545 billion on signings and receiving €470 million in return.

Local rivals Manchester City, who have a negative net expenditure of €984 million, and Ligue 1 club PSG, who have a negative net spend of €941 million, are close behind.

The difference between Barcelona (€650 million) and Arsenal (€583 million) is significant.

The Serie A is next, with Juventus having a negative net spend of €561 million, while the Bundesliga is well behind, with Bayern Munich in 13th place with €363 million.

Liverpool, who won the Champions League and the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp, are just €347 million behind Bayern.
