Dede Ayew, Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed And Others Fail To Make It Into CAF AFCON Eleven

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has presented the official first eleven following the successful completion of Nations Cup in Cameroon. Unfortunately for Ghana, no member of Black Stars squad for the tournament made it into the official line up.

In the goal post, goalkeeper Edwardo Mendy was selected ahead of Egyptian Gabaski. The Senegalese shot stopper had the opportunity to man the post because of his sterling performance which ensured his team departs Cameroon with the ultimate. In the final game on Sunday, Edwardo Mendy was on duty as he denied Egyptian Mohammed Salah from scoring a goal. The Liverpool forward squeezed his way through defenders to loft a ball to the roof of the net but the Chelsea goalkeeper was alive to tip the ball over for a corner kick. In another instance, Edwardo Mendy was superb, having stoped a shot from traveling into the net. These and other mouthwatering outputs handed him the advantage over Gabaski,

In defense, Ciss and Achraf Hakimi have been selected to take charge of the laterals. They were at their best for the hit respective countries in the tournament. Edmond Tapsoba and Abdelmonem will play as central defenders. The duo were tactful for their teams and delivered for their nations. Edmond Tapsoba was a delight to watch for Burkina Faso even when proceedings became difficult.

In midfield, Mohammed Elneny, Mendy and Toure were selected ahead of the numerous midfielders. Mendy will be playing as the holding man, while Elneny and Toure will be supporting on right and left. The three have a duty of taking over proceedings in games. In the tournament itself, they were industrious as their teams kept it easy to beat opponents.

The attack is made up of three brilliant players who have what it takes to change the narrative. The attacking trident of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Vincent Abubakar looks promising and could fetch a win at any point in time. Mohammed Salah will operate from the right, Sadio Mane will be on the left side and Vincent Abubakar will be the arrow head. Vincent Abubakar of Cameroon emerged top scorer at the end of tournament while Sadio Mane was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

Dede Ayew and his colleagues could not get the chance to represent Africa after the entire show. They could lift their performance in the next tournament in Cote D’ivoire next year to be able to win AFCON and make it into the official line up.
