Kelvin Antwi, 39, is nowhere to be found after he stole Ninety Eight Thousand Cedis of money belonging to Dr Amo David and his wife. Kelvin, believe to be hiding within Ahafo and Bono regions, was to deliver the bag full of money to his madam when he decided to run instead of delivering the bag.
The bag; brown with red inclined handles were filled with a total amount of GH¢98,000 when Dr David Amo handed it to his driver, Kelvin, to deliver it to the wife on 22 December 2021. Kelvin was to deliver the bag to Mrs Eva Amo’s shop at Kumasi Adum after she had mistakenly left the bag home.
The bag was not delivered on 22 December, and neither was the money or Kelvin seen on that day. Countless calls which were placed on Kelvins lines all became unsuccessful after he had switched off his phone.
Kelvin instead of returning the money rather called his boss Dr David on 25 December and gave him the direction to his car instead of the money. The car, a Toyota Hilux pickup which Kelvin was to use to deliver the money, was recovered on the 26 December 2021 on the Kumasi to Sunyani highway, after he had abandoned it.
Dr David Amo, narrating his side of the case, confirmed that, the money was to be used by his wife Eva to pay for goods which were arriving at her shop on the 22 December. The merchants of the goods were already at my wife’s shopping delivering the goods.
I called Kelvin from his room and asked him to deliver the bag to my wife at her shop. I never told him anything but he must have opened the bag along the way and found out it was money. It was bundles of GH¢5 notes packed inside the bag totalling GH¢98,000.
Kelvin has been with me for three years as a driver and I have treated him as a brother in all those years but he decided to pay us back with evil, Dr David Amo said with a teary face this morning. The police are still investigating the whereabouts of Kelvin Antwi.
The police believe Kelvin may be hiding within Sunyani areas or Goaso areas (Bono and Ahafo Regions). These areas are where he holds dearly, and we believe these areas are where he is hiding. Any information on his whereabouts will be highly appreciated, officer Solomon Duedi of Atonso police said this morning.
