Kericho County Police Commander, Silas Gichunge, confirmed the incident, adding that his officers were trailing the bodyguard and a prison warden who are the main suspects in the death of Leonard Kipyegon.
The two in cahoots are reported to have mercilessly killed a young man who is a close relative to the bodyguard for allegedly stealing a bee hive.
Reports indicate that the rogue officer lured the young man into his compound before mercilessly Killing him with a hammer.
An eyewitness who recounted the young man’s last moments said he heard him wailing and after touring the compound he was finished.
After the heinous act the rogue killers vanished with cops urging anyone with information that could lead to their arrest to inform the authorities accordingly.
