Heavy Afternoon Rains And Thunderstorms Expected In These Areas Today, Meteorological Agency Warns

Ghana’s weather today will be a blend of sunshine, clouds, and isolated rain showers as forecasted by the Ghana Meteorological Agency. The morning begins with mist and slight rain in several southern areas, while the afternoon is expected to bring scattered showers in parts of the middle and northern belts. The Agency cautions that thunderstorms could develop later in the day, especially in areas with persistent humidity. Sea conditions are expected to remain rough along the coast, and many Ghanaians have expressed hope that these showers will help ease the heat that has dominated much of the past week.

Southern Zone (Coastal and Forest Areas):

Accra, Cape Coast, and Takoradi will start with slight rains before giving way to bright sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures will range between 25°C and 31°C. However, light evening cloud cover is expected to return later. Residents of Axim and Aflao may also experience intermittent rainfall by mid-afternoon.

Middle Belt (Forest and Transitional Areas):

Kumasi, Koforidua, and Goaso will wake to misty conditions with possible light rains in the afternoon. Sunyani, Techiman, and Kintampo will enjoy sunny intervals, though thunderstorms could form in the late afternoon. Many commuters have urged authorities to maintain drainage systems in anticipation of isolated downpours.

Northern Sector:

Tamale, Wa, Yendi, and Bolgatanga will see partly cloudy skies with sunny periods dominating most of the day. However, evening thunderstorms are likely in Yendi and Wa, with temperatures peaking around 34°C.

Many netizens reacted to the forecast, reminding fellow citizens to carry umbrellas and stay hydrated. Others called on the Meteorological Agency to maintain consistent updates, especially as unpredictable showers have recently caught many off guard. Below is a comprehensive forecast of today’s weather as shared by the agency:
