Ex-Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Isaac Amoako has expressed confidence that his former club can win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors are yet to taste defeat in the ongoing season – both home and away respectively. The record Ghana Premier League holders have recorded four wins and a draw with a an impressive 13 points haul out of a possible 15. They currently sit top of the league table and Isaac Amoako believes the Porcupine Warriors have the pedigree to claim their 25th league title.

“Asante Kotoko’s pedigree should be how it is at the moment because during my stint with the club, on three occasions we won the league after preseason outside the country. It is something that I experienced at Kotoko” He continued that, “So, after pre-season in Dubai, you could see the boys are well motivated in everything. One thing I have noticed is that anytime Kotoko embark on preseason abroad they win the league, so am not surprised they are winning matches. “The team is yet to taste a defeat and it tells you Kotoko can win the Ghana Premier League title. Having set that pace, am sure if things go this way, I believe this season will go for Kotoko” he said.

Kotoko started the season with a perfect result in the opening game against Dreams FC. The came from a goal down to beat the “Still Believe” Boys 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium. They returned to the Baba Yara Stadium for the first time in almost two years and got a perfect result as well. They beat Bechem United 2-0 to go on six points. It was time to take home another three points but this time in an away game. They travelled to Bibiani to claim all three points in a 1-0 victory against Premier League entrants, Gold Stars at the Dun’s Park in week three. They subsequently returned to the Baba Yara Stadium for week four against Eleven Wonders which they won by 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium to continue their one hundred percent record in the season.

The fifth week was however a bad day at the office after Karela United held them to a goalless draw at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park with Kotoko going down to ten men when Richard Boadu was red carded. The Porcupine Warriors have another tough customer to host in week six. They will play host to city rivals, King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium. Both clubs have not lost a game at the Baba Yara Stadium this season. Kotoko are on 13 points, three better than King Faisal.
