Qatar Charity Supports 48 Ghanaian Families

THE GHANA Office of Qatar Charity has lent economic support to a total of 48 individuals and their families in various parts of the country as part of its efforts to provide better living conditions for them.

The beneficiaries, located in Accra and Tamale, each received various items ranging from technical and vocational equipment to food items and cooking accessories at a brief presentation ceremony at its office in East Legon, Accra.

The food items donated include bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil, tomato paste and Indomie noodles among others; whereas the equipment presented include tricycles, sewing machines plus other sewing accessories; bakery machines, gas cylinders etc.

In a brief address, Country Director, Qatar Charity, Ahmed Adam Mohammed said the gesture was aimed at providing beneficiaries with the needed resources to start and manage their own businesses, and also to improve upon their living conditions, especially with most of them being widows.

“We hope that this gesture would help make their lives better,” Mr. Mohammed said.

Coordinator at the Zongo and Inner Cities Secretariat, Dr. Ben Abdallah Banda, conveyed the appreciation of President Akufo-Addo to the Qatar Charity for the kind gesture saying, “We have taken note and will send the message to the President.”

He also assured that government was committed to maintaining and strengthening its relations with the State of Qatar to ensure mutual benefits for both countries.

On her part, Dr. Afisa Zakariah, Chief Director at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection also expressed gratitude for being invited to be part of the initiative and for partnering government in delivering meaningful life to the citizenry.

“Qatar Charity is not giving you fish to eat. They are helping you to fish. It is our prayer that this foundation being laid for you would be built upon in the near future,” she advised the beneficiaries.

She asked management of the charity to invite the ministry on their subsequent projects.

Two of the beneficiaries who identified themselves as Rashida and Adiza also conveyed their gratitude to the charity for the gesture done them and prayed for God’s blessings upon the charity and all their partners.
